Safe-Moor™ Technology Supporting Breakwater Protection at Kingman Yacht Center

Overview
EOM Offshore’s Safe-Moor™ compliant mooring systems were deployed at Kingman Yacht Center to anchor a large floating breakwater designed to protect millions of dollars’ worth of vessels.
Situated in Cataumet, Massachusetts, the marina required a robust, reliable system capable of withstanding hurricane conditions while minimizing environmental impact.
The Challenge
Marinas and yacht clubs face increasing risks from storm surge, hurricanes, and extreme weather events. Traditional rigid anchoring systems can fail under these conditions, leading to costly infrastructure damage and vessel loss. Kingman Yacht Center needed a low-maintenance, resilient solution to secure its floating breakwater and ensure long-term protection for its fleet.
Our Solution
EOM Offshore provided Safe-Moor™ stretch-hose moorings specifically engineered to deliver strength, compliance, and durability. The hoses absorbed dynamic wave and surge forces, reducing stress on both the breakwater and its anchoring points. This allowed the breakwater to remain secure while flexing naturally with the energy of storms.

Key advantages of this solution included:
- Hurricane resilience: Designed to withstand extreme storm and surge conditions.
- Asset protection: Safeguarded millions of dollars in vessels moored inside the marina.
- Compliance and flexibility: Stretch-hose technology absorbed impact forces, extending system lifespan.
- Environmental benefit: Reduced seabed disturbance compared to traditional anchoring methods.
Summary
The Kingman Yacht Center project demonstrates how Safe-Moor™ mooring systems can protect marinas, yacht clubs, and waterfront infrastructure from hurricanes and severe weather. By using compliant stretch-hose technology, EOM Offshore delivered a solution that provides reliability, vessel protection, and environmental responsibility, helping safeguard one of Massachusetts’ premier yacht clubs.
